Murwillumbah Pink Slips
In NSW, each vehicle is required to undergo a safety check/ Pink Slip each year to maintain a minimum standard of safety for all cars, trucks, trailers, caravans, etc. Don't leave it until last minute!
Regular servicing of your vehicle with All Mechanical Services will reduce this stress as we keep you informed of what needs attention on your car so you are less likely to have those nasty surprises at rego time. All Mechanical Services is licensed to carry out these inspections for light vehicles (except trucks) and we have a number of examiners on site.
The inspection is conducted according to the rules set down by Transport For NSW (the state government) and all examiners must abide by these rules. We DO NOT make the rules! The fee for inspection is also determined by Transport For NSW.
We at All Mechanical Services take this job seriously as it maintains safety standards for your car, so please don’t argue about your safety. Call (02) 6672 7771 to book a pink slip inspection at our Murwillumbah workshop.
What’s Included in a Safety Check
A proper safety inspection covers all the critical systems that keep your car safe to drive. We go through every requirement methodically — no shortcuts, no guesswork.
Here are some items that are checked during a standard inspection:
- Brakes & Tyres: Tread depth, condition and stopping performance.
- Lights & Indicators: Headlights, tail lights, brake and signal lights.
- Steering & Suspension: Wear and handling safety.
- Seatbelts & Windscreen: Restraints, visibility and structural integrity.
- Leaks & Engine Condition: Obvious oil or fluid leaks.
If your vehicle doesn’t meet one or more requirements, we’ll explain why and offer the best repair options to get you passed and back on the road. Book your inspection today — it’s quick, thorough and done right.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pink slip and when do I need one?
A pink slip, also known as an eSafety check, is required in NSW when renewing registration for vehicles over five years old. It confirms your car is roadworthy and safe to drive.
The inspection must be completed by a licensed mechanic, and the results are sent directly to Transport for NSW. If your vehicle passes, you can complete rego renewal straight away.
How long does a pink slip inspection take?
Most pink slip inspections take around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the condition of the vehicle. If no issues are found, the certificate is processed on the spot.
If something needs repair, your mechanic will explain the problem and provide options. It’s best to book ahead, especially during peak rego times, to avoid delays.
What happens if my vehicle fails the inspection?
If your vehicle fails the pink slip inspection, you’ll receive a report explaining what needs to be fixed. You then have 14 days to carry out the required repairs and return for a free reinspection.
If you go beyond that time, a full new inspection is needed. Addressing issues quickly keeps the process smooth and avoids extra costs.
